How to update the firmware of a Star printer
Firmware updates are usually only needed to address specific issues. If you’re unsure whether your printer model requires a firmware update, please get in touch with Star Technical Support. To find out the current firmware version of your printer, you can easily print a self-test. The firmware version will be printed at the top of the page.
Here’s how to print a self-test:
- For thermal printers, turn on the printer and press the FEED button at the same time until the self-test prints.
- For impact printers, turn on the printer and press the FEED button at the same time until you hear a “beep” sound.
- If you’re a developer, you can find the firmware command in the programmer’s manual. You can access the programmer’s manual in the Star Micronics Developers Section.
