How to Configure Star Drivers to Cut In-Between Pages

Overview: This guide explains how to configure a Star Micronics printer to cut pages and test the cutter on Windows and Mac devices using futurePRNT, StarPRNT, or Cups Drivers.

Supported Printers: futurePRNT, starPRNT printers on Windows, and printers supported by CUPS Drivers on Mac and Linux Supported Interfaces: USB, LAN, BT, Wi-Fi, Serial, Parallel Supported Environments: Windows, Mac, Linux Devices Needed: Mac Computer, Windows Computer, Supported Star Micronics printer Software Needed: futurePRNT, StarPRNT, or Cups Driver

How to configure page cut settings on Windows using futurePRNT software:

  1. Open Control Panel by searching for “Control Panel” in the search bar.
  2. Left-click on “View devices and printers.”
  3. Right-click on the printer’s icon, then select “Printer Properties.”
  4. In the “Printer Properties” window, go to “Device Settings.”
  5. Under “Installable Options,” select the drop-down menu for “Page Cut Type” and select “Partial Cut.”
  6. Click on “Apply” and “OK” to confirm the changes.

How to configure page cut settings on Windows using StarPRNT software:

  1. Follow the instructions in Part I, steps A through D.
  2. Under “Installable Options,” find the “Paper Cut” setting. Click on the drop-down menu for “Page Bottom” and select “Full Cut” or “Partial Cut.”
  3. Click on “Apply” and “OK” to confirm the changes.

How to configure page cut settings on Mac using the CUPS driver software:

  1. Open your web browser and enter “localhost:631.”
  2. Click on the “Printers” tab.
  3. Select the name of the printer.
  4. Click on the “Administration” drop-down menu, then select “Set Default options.”
  5. Click on the “Cut Options” tab, then select the drop-down menu for “Page Cut Type” and choose either “Partial Cut” or “Full Cut.”
  6. Click on “Set Default Options.”
  7. Enter your username and password when prompted.

How to verify that receipts are being cut on Windows:

  1. Follow the instructions in Part I up to step C.
  2. In the “Printer Properties” window, at the bottom right, click on “Print Test Page.”
  3. Verify that the test page cuts at the end.

How to verify that receipts are being cut on Mac:

  1. Follow the instructions in Part III up to step C.
  2. Select the drop-down menu for “Maintenance,” then click on “Print Test Page.”
  3. Verify that the test page cuts at the end.
